Fardeen Khan is the son of Sundri and famed Indian actor/director Feroz Khan, who is originally from Bangalore. While he was brought up in India, he studied abroad. Fardeen's father is Muslim and mother is Hindu. Fardeen completed his education in business management (B.A) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the USA. His father's family background is of Afghan (Pathan).[citation needed] His mother's family is of [Hindu] Sindhi descent. Khan made his debut in November 1998 with Prem Aggan which was directed by his father. Though the film did not do well, he received the Filmfare Best Debut Award for his performance. His second film Jungle (2000) was a hit and established him as an actor.
